Scott County AmeriCorps - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Scott County AmeriCorps - Scott County Partnership

Scott County AmeriCorps planned their Martin Luther King, Jr.  event  to provide education, awareness, skill building, and opportunities for further knowledge in the areas of safety which cover the gamut of personal, home, work, and environment. This was accomplished by organizing and implementing safety and awareness fairs were held at three strategically placed accessible locations within Scott County. The fairs included hands on demonstrations, educational booths, workshops, and one on one created home safety evacuation planning conducted by trained AmeriCorps members and community volunteers.  From start to finish their project included approximately 100 to 150 new volunteers that were engaged in service to their community.  Scott County AmeriCorps members partnered with organizations like New Hope Services and Prevent Child Abuse Scott County Council Incorporated in effort to spread the word about safety for their event.

Home Fire Escape Plan - created by a patron of the safety and awareness fair.
