Indiana Response and Preparedness Corps - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day of Service

Indiana Response and Preparedness Corps (RAP Corps) – @ The American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana

The Indiana Response and Preparedness Corps (RAP Corps) engaged 160 volunteers to canvas neighborhoods in Fort Wayne with Disaster Preparedness materials in English, Spanish, Burmese and French (the languages most commonly spoken in Fort Wayne) and offered smoke detectors to families, if they have no smoke detector in the house.

They worked with several universities to solicit volunteers as well as other community agencies such as United Way, Turnstone, Mayor's Youth Council, John Chapman Kiwanis Clup, IPFW Circle K Club, Key Clubs, and several other community agencies.   Additionally, the Red Cross worked with its International Services program to provide bilingual and multilingual volunteers to translate written materials and to interpret on site as volunteers
canvass neighborhoods.
